题目:Some parents give their children everything that their children ask for or they want to do. Is this good for children? What could be the consequences for these children when they grow up?

Parents’ impacts on their children are so tremendous and profound that may last for their kids’ lifetimes. Some parents are strict with kids, hoping that they will grow up and meet their expectations, while others give children everything they demand. Parents, however, should be careful not to spoil their children because society will teach their kids lessons if they don’t.

By providing children with everything they ask, parents are helping them to develop greater egos. If the children succeed at asking for small things, they will begin asking for bigger things and eventually things that the parents might not be able to afford. For example, a child might ask things as accessible as a piece of candy at age three. As they grow up, they will start asking for technological products and eventually cars and houses. To prevent their children from asking for impossible things, parents need to stop giving them everything they ask for at a young age.

Without being taught that everything has a price, children will never learn to work hard to achieve their goals. Children might ask for chocolates and toys from their parents when they were young, but they aren’t able to receive good grades or other accomplishments by requesting. Children might never learn to work hard or apply themselves to reach their desires. As they grow older, they are not likely to succeed in the competitive world by themselves. Colleges won’t accept them if they lack outstanding academic records, and companies won’t hire them only because they ask. To prepare children with the real world, smart parents train them to gain through pain since childhood.

After always receiving what they want, spoiled children are at risk to become self-centered. As a result, they will not be appreciative to their parents or anyone else in their life. For example, my neighbors spoil their youngest son a lot. The son is so used to getting everything from his parents and grandparents that he thinks it is others’ responsibility to be nice to him. When I visited them with gifts for the boy, he refused to thank me. I wasn’t surprised to hear that the boy couldn’t make any friends at school.

In conclusion, parents should avoid spoiling their children to prevent them from developing greater egos, not working hard to reach their goals, and not being appreciative to people who help them. Parents are the first and best teachers of their children, so they should guide them to develop characteristics that are suitable for survival in the modern society.
